Why Product Managers need to be Influencers

Why Product Managers need to be Influencers

What do you think of when you hear the word "influencer?" Do you think of celebrities on Instagram with millions of followers? Or do you think of someone in your industry with a strong online presence?

Product managers are increasingly being asked to be influencers. And while it may seem like an impossible task, it's actually not that difficult.

First, let's define what an influencer is. An influencer is someone who has the ability to influence others. They're not necessarily famous or wealthy, but they have built up a following by sharing their thoughts and ideas on a given topic.

As a product manager, you likely already have some influence within your company. But there are ways to amplify your voice and reach a larger audience.

Here are a few tips:

1. Write blog posts or articles

If you have something to say, say it! Share your product management insights on your company blog or on popular industry publications. This is a great way to build up your personal brand and reach new people.

2. Speak at conferences or events

Events are a great opportunity to share your expertise with a wider audience. Offer to speak at local meetups or conferences related to product management.

3. Use social media

Social media is a powerful tool for reaching new people. Share your thoughts and ideas on Twitter, LinkedIn, or Facebook. And don't forget to include a link to your website or blog.

4. Connect with other product managers

There's a growing community of product managers online and offline. Get involved in discussions, attend meetups, or join a professional association. This is a great way to network and learn from your peers.

5. Teach others

One of the best ways to learn is by teaching others. Offer to mentor someone new to product management or teach a course on the subject. You can also write articles or create video tutorials about product management topics.

6. Stay up to date

Product management is a rapidly changing field. To stay ahead of the curve, make sure to stay up to date with new trends and developments. Read articles, listen to podcasts, and attend conferences and webinars.

7. Get certified

There are a number of product management certification programs available. These can give you an edge when applying for jobs or promotions. They can also help you learn new skills and concepts.

8. Start a podcast

Podcasts are a great way to reach a wider audience. If you have something valuable to say, consider starting your own podcast.

9. Teach a class

If you’re an expert on a particular topic, you may want to consider teaching a class. This is a great way to share your knowledge and help others learn.

10. Write a book

Writing a book is a great way to share your knowledge with the world. It’s also a great way to build your personal brand.

11. Create an online course

?If you have a lot of knowledge to share, you may want to consider creating an online course. This is a great way to monetize your expertise.
