Why Pre-School Medical Checks are important for your child
As the new academic term approaches, the importance of Pre-school medical checks becomes increasingly apparent. While school health services offer an excellent opportunity for the detection and treatment of potential health issues, our focus is on common infectious diseases such as Malaria, Hepatitis B, and UTIs. Addressing these concerns before a child returns to school is imperative for a safe and healthy learning environment.
In addition to screening for infectious diseases, various examinations and recommendations are based on clinical questions and findings. These include vaccinations, dental checkups, eye examinations, and more.
We engaged with teachers and parents to gather their perspectives on back-to-school health checks, revealing varied opinions. While some view it as an essential aspect of child well-being, others consider it a means to inflate bills.

Appropriate Age Groups For Pre-School Medical Checks And What Is The Best Time?
Pre-school medical checks are recommended for elementary, primary, and secondary school children, with special emphasis on boarding school students who may be away from close parental supervision, it's preferred that you have the tests done within 1 or 2 weeks before school resumes as such you have time to manage anything unexpected before reporting to school.
Value Addition for Schools: Some schools have made back-to-school health checks mandatory. C-Care Uganda, through our Clinics, offers on-ground checks at an affordable cost. As a value addition, we conduct monthly visits to schools, checking the health status of both children and staff, providing health talks, and sharing practical ways to stay healthy at school.
