Why pre-ordering books is vital
Firstly, thank you thank you thank you for all the love and support around the cover reveal of SOMEONE ELSE’S CHILD. It’s been overwhelming and I am truly grateful.?
A few people have asked if they should pre-order a copy or wait until the book’s release on 1st June.?
So I’ve put together some info about why pre-ordering is SUPER helpful to debut authors (well, any authors really).?
In the sea of new books released by multiple publishers every week, how can one little person from little old Melbourne, Australia stand out?
If a book attracts attention through pre-orders, it's a way for those in the industry to sit up and see what all the fuss is about.
If pre-orders are promising, booksellers may decide to order more copies in anticipation of more sales.
The chatter in the industry may include "hey did you see that debut coming out about a mother fundraising for her daughter's cancer treatment ... and how she didn't spend the money where she promised?" (Hooked yet?)
Launching a book (or any new product) into an abyss is not what we work so hard for. Seven years of writing and pitching and hoping have finally led to my novel being launched on 1st June, and to have that fall flat because no one has heard of me or my book would be one heck of a buzz kill.
Pre-orders help spread the word (and the title) around so people are excited to come and celebrate it!
So, how do you pre-order? Through any of these sellers:

2 年I always wondered about that... Thanks! Pre-ordered, and can't wait to read it when I finally make it back to Oz... and maybe get it signed by the author?! So impressed, Kylie - congratulations!
