Why possibility is better than positivity

Why possibility is better than positivity

I have had many people reach out to me and ask how it is possible to stay positive during these challenging times?

Which is exactly why I want to talk about why positivity sucks. Yes, you heard that right - I think positivity sucks.

Here's why...

Time and time again I hear people tell me they just want to have a positive mindset. I see social media saturated with messages that promote ‘positive vibes only’ (my ultimate pet peeve!). We get sold the idea of affirmations, instead of words of power with action.

Although it may be well-intentioned, there is something fundamentally limiting about (toxic) positivity – it sucks the life out of you!

Why?

Because it suppresses the opportunity to find the benefits of the so-called negatives. It closes your mind and heart, by focussing on only one perspective. It encourages you to avoid the hard stuff, rather than leaning into it.

It creates a fantasy that does not equip you with the reality that there is just as much terrific as there is terrible, as much certainty as uncertainty, as much order as disorder. It does not empower you to truly govern your head and heart. And most of all, it is completely exhausting!

So what would happen if you pick possibility instead?

The possibility of:

  • Finding benefits of the negatives
  • Training your mind with the gift of a new perspective
  • Feeling clear, confident and courageous
  • Healing your heavy heart with gratitude.
  • Awakening real balance, as you get curious and uncover appreciation for the upsides and downsides.

Because that is where clarity and resilience are born, inside a mind and heart that appreciates both sides.

That is exactly what I teach my clients to do.

The path to achieving the best version of yourself starts from within, but it is not a journey you have to embark on alone. Your membership to your mindset is lifelong one and the wisest investment you will ever make. ?
