Why Plans Change

Three weeks ago, I wrote a post on learning new things.

One big change is changing the colors of the slides, as well as cutting the slides from over 100 to 10.

Everything changed when a LinkedIn post dropped last week.

Richard van der Blom (Algorithm Guru) dropped a slide deck post.

Now the slides affect reach.?

There was so much info that I couldn't believe the Algo man did it.

The sweet spot or the magic number now is 7 slides.

Guess what??

I had a slide deck post ready to go the next day with 10 slides.

The major thing is that 11 slides lower reach by 17%.

19 slides reduce reach by 60%.

The more slides, the more the reach is reduced.

This messed up my plans. Big time.

After the initial shock, I remained calm and adjusted.?

No matter how many slides, I'm going to add value.

Here are two lessons on why plans change:

Lesson #1: To reframe what you learned into an opportunity.

Every day is a chance to plant your plans.

For you, it's a chance to change what you knew into a lesson to teach.

For me, it's a way to look for only the best to add.

Reframe the plans that changed into a way to position yourself.

I used the 7 slide deck post the next day.

Here are the stats:

55 reactions, 61 comments, 1 repost (used to be reshare), 9,171 impressions.

When there is a change of plans, roll with it.

Reframe what happened into a plan to move forward.

Expect the unexpected to adjust for a change in personal plans.

Lesson #2: To refine yourself.

If life never changed, you wouldn't change.

Every day, plans change to see how patient you are.

Be flexible.

Every plan that changes is a phase you learn from.

You plan better, learn better, and adjust better.

Plans change whether you are ready or not.

Be ready to plan and learn from it.

What's another tip about plans did I miss?

Your posts with slides are so visually appealing and attention-getting. I want to start trying to add slides to some of my posts and will definitely consider the magic 7 slide number - thank you! I'm curious - which platform(s) do you use to create your slides and share them on LinkedIn? Do you create them in a program like Powerpoint and save them as jpgs? And then how do you add a slide desk to a post? Any tips would be much appreciated. I used to use Slideshare YEARS ago, but I'm guessing the technology has changed!

I often ask myself if the only constant is change why do we fear it so much? (not really an answer...except embrace it as growth or as you framed it an opportunity) Nice article Craig Here's an "outlier" to the stats isn't there always one? 69 slides.. https://www.dhirubhai.net/posts/jameslaurain_the-worst-ad-ive-ever-seen-ugcPost-6982736456297459712-Zyqt?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop

Woow??. Your reaction to the change is what l like and my major key takeaway. ?? The world we live in keeps changing at a rapid pace, making everyone around us frustrated. To be able navigate and turn what others would have seen as an obstacle into an opportunity to learn that's Gold Craig Davis.

Indeed, change is a challenge for patience. And every change brings a lesson as opportunity to learn from. Love your recap on adjusting Craig
