Why is pharmacy app development important?

We live in a world of technological changes and digital transformation. And while the Healthcare industry dives unto it up to the hub, Pharmacy is a large part of it as well.
As any other person I am not a fan of “medicine shopping”. Standing in lines, having your prescription on a piece of paper, anxiously trying to remember if you have forgotten something… What a nightmare!
When the pharmacy apps first appeared - they were meant to make consumers' lives far more easier. Think about it - you get an app that solves the problems listed above.
As a person of business I am hardly in a position to spend half of my day chasing medicine around the city throughout different drugstores (yeah, we all know, that it is a real luck to find everything you need in one store). What I actually want - and I think many people would agree - is to have an app, where my doctor would insert the prescription of what I need, and just with a couple of simple clicks I:
- see where I can find it,
- order it and pay for it online,
- see the substitute, if the medicine is unavailable for some reason,
- have a reminder about the required prescription,
- track, how I take it,
- avoid long lines and awkward communication,
- evade the discomfort of buying medicines in front of other people, etc.
Doesn’t that already sound like a huge relief?
Let’s look at some numbers. In 2018, the global online pharmacy (ePharmacy) market was estimated to be worth 49.7 billion US dollars and by 2026, it is predicted that the market will grow to reach about 177.8 billion US dollars.
What drives this market? Simply the demand of people, of all ages and generations. Millennials, who spend 60% of their time on the phone are just used to the “digitized” style of life and prefer to order everything online instead of having interpersonal communication. Middle-age people, who spend most of the day at work, and then rush home (or switch the study to the living room) to attend to their family and are grateful to have a solution, that is simple and not time-consuming at all. Elderly people find it extremely useful to have everything in one place (prescriptions, medicine tracker, list of drugstores, etc.) instead of trying to keep track of various services. Plus, the medicine can be delivered home - one of the greatest benefits, especially in the time of a pandemic.
Short list of perks of a pharmacy app:
- High-Level Patient Assistance
- Better Chronic Illness Management
- Customer Loyalty
- Convenience and Privacy
- Driving New Customers
In the last couple of years CodeIT’s focus has shifted a little to the healthcare and pharmacy solutions. It was a coincidence, but we have started to slowly enter the healthcare market and did some solid work on the problem. That is why our experts - myself included - talk about various healthcare issues and solutions. A lot. Trust me.
If this was engaging enough to learn more - you can get more comprehensive insights in the article here. If you want to discuss this with me - I am always up for it.
