Why the Pet Industry Leadership Summit Should Be On Your 2023 To-do List
With Labor Day weekend marking the unofficial end of summer, all eyes are on the remainder of the year, with some even beginning to plan for 2023. For me, I am already looking forward to the 2023 Pet Industry Leadership Summit. Jointly presented by the Pet Industry Distributors Association (PIDA), American Pet Products Association (APPA), Pet Advocacy Network and World Pet Association (WPA), the Summit is the only high-level industry event that gathers top executives from every segment of the pet care supply chain – manufacturers, distributors and retailers alike – to harness their collective knowledge and expertise. The eighth annual event will take place at the brand-new Loews Coral Gables luxury hotel in Coral Gables, Fla. on January 30 through February 1, 2023.
Considering many of our schedules are already busy with trade shows, meetings and other business gatherings, why should you add the Summit to your to-do list for 2023? Here are three reasons why you should register to reserve your spot now.
1. Problem-solving, ideation and new perspectives abound.
The collective benefit of the Summit is that it enables all of us to sit down together face-to-face to share ideas, solve problems and develop new ways to improve our industry in a relaxed, collaborative atmosphere. And, because adding new experiences and perspectives to the mix only increases the value of the conference, we are enticing potential new, first-time companies to join us by offering 50% off their registration fees.

2. Get a first look at new data and learn lessons from an impressive lineup of engaging experts and thought leaders.
Each year, the Summit serves as the pet industry’s kickoff event. From presentations on updated data surrounding the direct and indirect economic impact of pets and pet care on the U.S. and within each state, to briefs from the Human Animal Bond Research Institute (HABRI), Pet Advocacy Network, Pet Care Trust’s Pets in the Classroom program and others, the Summit provides attendees with a high-level overview of what to expect for the year to come and how organizations can work together to support the pet industry as a whole. Attendees will also hear from speakers on a wide range of issues that affect all of us in the pet care community. This year’s programming includes economist Chris Kuehl, managing director for Armada Corporate Intelligence and entrepreneur, talk show host and bestselling author Troy Hazard.
3. Have some fun!
The Summit isn’t all business all the time – there is some fun to be had, too! We are excited to announce our opening keynote speaker will be humorist, columnist and Pulitzer Prize winner for commentary Dave Barry. You won’t want to miss Dave’s advice on how to age gracefully and live your own best life as chronicled in their hilarious, bestselling book, “Lessons from Lucy: The Simple Joys of an Old, Happy Dog.”
The Summit offers ample opportunities to enjoy insightful conversations you may not expect with people you may not have imagined meeting. Whether it is on the golf course, at the buffet line or in a conference room, you are likely to make some new friends and long term strategic alliances. First-timers are also invited to take part in a pre-Welcome Dinner reception to kick off the event.
