Why People Matter More Than Process

Why People Matter More Than Process

People or Process: Which Matters More?

Alright, here’s a question for you: if you?had?to pick just one—people or processes—which would it be?

Now, as a leader, you know both are super important. But let’s be real—there’s only so much time in the day, and you need to focus on what’s going to move the needle most.

Here’s the deal: most leaders I talk to want more time. Time to work on big-picture stuff like strategy, growth, and innovation. And you know what gives you that time? A killer team. A team that just?gets it done.

Why People Win Every Time

Let’s face it, great teams do more than follow processes. They solve problems, find better ways to do things, and make things happen—often without you babysitting them. When you’ve got the right people in your corner, you can actually breathe. You know things are handled, challenges will be crushed, and goals will be nailed.

With a rock-solid team, you get to focus on what?really?matters instead of sweating the small stuff.

But Processes Are No Joke

Now don’t get me wrong—processes are awesome. They make things efficient, scalable, and consistent. Processes cut down on mistakes and give everyone clarity.

But here’s the catch: a process is just a framework. It’s only as good as the people running it. If your team isn’t capable or willing, even the best processes fall flat.

My Take: People First, Always

If you made me choose, I’d pick people every single time. Why? Because the right people don’t just follow processes—they make them better. They own the results, take accountability, and free you up to focus on the big picture.

Of course, the sweet spot is having both: a powerhouse team?and?processes that support them. That’s when the magic happens.

But now I want to hear from you—if you had to choose, what’s it gonna be: people or process??

I also pick people every single time, while adhering to a strict process might seem efficient, true success lies in inspiring people to embrace it. By focusing on individual growth and fostering a shared vision, you empower them to not only follow the process but also contribute to its continuous improvement, ultimately exceeding expectations.
