Why are people going to work when diagnosed positive for Covid19?

The Victorian State Government are concerned and perplexed as to why people are still moving around and going to work, even when diagnosed with Covid19. They seem to think this is mainly due to people being concerned about losing income if they do not go to work.,

Perhaps I can offer some other reasons as to why this is the case.

1.      There is anger that that those in power who have made some poor decisions, will retain their high paying jobs, while many will lose their jobs and others lose their businesses due to perceived mistakes the Government has made.

2.      The Black Lives Matter protest may have not caused a second wave, but allowing so many people in one place, which had no impact, gave people belief it was safe to move around freely.

3.      Anger that this second wave is being blamed on the community, when it appears it was caused by bad government handling of the hotel quarantine.

4.      A belief that the Government should have gone harder, sooner, in certain areas where there were many cases (Geelong / Colac), and not as tough in other areas where there were none, or very few positive cases (Mornington)

5.      A feeling that State Government are only offering support packages to unionised industries, and nothing for sole traders and other small businesses, as they are being totally ignored and forgotten.

6.      Concern that the hotel quarantine inquest will be limited in actions and nobody will be held accountable

7.      No vaccine as yet, so concern that all that will keep happening, is we ease restrictions, then put them back again. We cannot keep yo-yoing like this.

8.      Other countries with far more outbreaks and deaths are opening up the economy, as they believe that if closed too long the long term impact will be too hard to recover from.

9.      Victoria decided to handle the outbreak differently to every other state in Australia, and are now the only State with a major second wave, so why would people think they know what they are doing now?

10.  90% of Regional Victoria has very few cases, yet all Regional going to Stage 3. General feeling is we need to not have blanket decisions, and treat areas more individually.

Wouldn't you stay home. Duty of care.
