Why People Buy
People buy for one of two reasons, or sometimes both; they either want to avoid pain or gain pleasure. If you think about it, these are the two inspiring influences for anyone doing anything in their life. It’s the old carrot and stick example; the carrot is something to eat as a reward and the stick is the punishing object to fear.?
For those of us that sell goods or services (and everyone sells something), our job is to find the answer to the pleasure they want or the pain they wish to avoid and show them how our product or service will help them realize their end game.?
In previous blogs, I have suggested that products and services are bought via emotions and then justified logically with facts. Therefore, it’s the job of the presenter to uncover what that prospect or client wants as a result of the product or service and make the emotional connection.?
