Why passwords matter
Our work is critical to the UK's safety. We are developing the new warhead for the needs of defence while maintaining the current one, and that means it is critical for us to keep every single one of our accounts safe.
Passwords are the first line of defence; they protect you and your information, yet people still use weak passwords.
Our advice?
1 - Make them long
2 - Make them random
3 - Make them unique
Some hackers will use information freely available online about you or on your social media to help them guess at your passwords and get into your accounts. Keep your profiles private and be careful about the information that you share.
Your email password should be strong and different from all your other passwords. Combining 3 random words that each mean something to you is a great way to create a password that is easy to remember but hard to crack.
Finally, consider using a password manager to keep all of your passwords secure. When we use a password manager, we are much more likely to use a long, random and unique password on every site. And that makes it much harder for someone to steal our valuable information.
