I had a great time talking to KCRA 3 & My58 Television about my research with the SMUD Museum of Science and Curiosity this week! Since January, we have been working with the museum to collect data about how children learn from virtual reality. It has been my goal since arriving in Davis to create a partnership where I could conduct my work openly and talk to people about what I do and why. The aim of a lot of my research is to help promote scientific understanding, and with this project, we are able to build this understanding into the study design. In addition to the 200 child participants we plan to have in the study, we have had 345 "casual" interactions where we show people the VR headset or our physical puzzles without collecting their data. It is our final weekend of data collection, and I am so grateful for the team that is making this dream possible: Natalie Rhoades, Uri Griner, Valerie Klein, Nicole James, Camren Allen, Drew Cingel, Richard Huskey, PhD, Sofia Rhea, and Kellan Ta. Congratulations to The Dominguez Dream in Memory of H. Frank Dominguez (TDD) Executive Director KARLA GONZALEZ ILARDE and our Vanir volunteers who supported the Celebrating STEAM Gala at the SMUD Museum of Science and Curiosity. The gala honored two very worthy recipients who embody the mission and values of TDD. Honorees included Timothy McIntosh, a well-known educator in STEAM and TDD Board Member and the Principal of Las Palmas Elementary School Rachel Williams.
