Why our words matter most

Why our words matter most

Happy International Women's Day!

All week we've been honouring great women and their words, because words matter. What is said, who says it, how they say it all influence perceptions and perceptions become reality. However, not everyone has the freedom to speak or the opportunity to be heard. Women in life and leadership have been indentured by these challenges for centuries. Yet it’s been the constant din of women's voices, speaking alone and in unison, that has created the most significant difference to the lives of people all over the world. When we come together to speak we create a narrative that opens the imagination of the listener. The opportunity is ours, no, the responsibility is ours to feed that listener’s imagination with the blueprints required to make our society respectful, safe and equal for everyone.

We must speak regularly to everyone who will listen and constantly to those who won’t. We must speak up when our voices are too tired to make another sound. We must speak up in good times as well as bad. We must speak up for ourselves and we must shout out for others who have no voice. If we want to create our own working lives worth living, we must work harder to lift the lives of every other man, woman and child. We can do that. Together, we CAN do that. One word at a time. #Equality #Love #Peace #Leadership #Respect #Justice #Fairness #Safety #Freedom #Humanity #Business #Profit #Purpose.

As values-driven leaders, how do you use words to influence positive change in your personal and professional lives and what changes are you prioritising right now? If you’d like to continue this conversation with me and other like-minded leaders and change agents, come over to my private Face Book group, The MOJO Mobilisers Collective https://bit.ly/2D7kcYq. Let's talk. Our words can change the world.
