Why Our Leaders Love Unlimited PTO

Why Our Leaders Love Unlimited PTO

If you’re considering a career move to a new management position, the concept of unlimited paid time off (PTO) may sound too good to be true. But at Hilton Grand Vacations, it’s a key Team Member benefit that contributes to a positive work culture and enhanced work-life balance.

Along with excellent benefits programs ,?career growth opportunities ?and the chance to work in some of the top travel destinations worldwide, HGV offers all salaried manager-level Team Members and above the ability to decide how much leave is right for you to take each year.

It’s Good for Personal and Career Growth

For those wondering how unlimited PTO works at HGV, we spoke with Meagan H., a senior marketing content manager with our Branding & Creative Team based in Orlando.

“I had specific criteria when looking for a company to call home,” she said. At the top of her list was a competitive compensation plan including a robust PTO program.

“As a working parent with three young children, work-life balance can feel like a mythical unicorn,” Meagan noted. “However, having unlimited PTO makes it more attainable. I normally use my PTO on family vacations, for self-care like dentist and doctor appointments, and for one field trip each with my kids.”

“My work is better when my personal life is in order, whether I’m keeping up on my annual physicals or giving my brain a break,” she added.

The benefits don’t stop there. Researchers at Norwich University have found that “When employees take vacations, it increases their productivity, provides greater job satisfaction, reduces their stress levels, leads to a better night’s sleep, and benefits cardiovascular health by aiding in the prevention of heart disease.” In turn, they noted, these outcomes can lead to lower health care costs as well as greater employee engagement and retention.

Vacations Are What We Do

It may seem obvious why Team Members would appreciate having control over how much vacation time they can take, and surveys have demonstrated widespread positive sentiment about unlimited time off in the broader marketplace. But in reality, “leave without limits” is only as good as your workplace culture.

A quote graphic in blue and white lettering that reads, "In my experience, the culture at HGV is very pro-PTO."

At some companies that offer this benefit, employees can end up taking less time off than they normally would, because they’re concerned about being perceived as not as busy or not as hard of a worker.

That’s not the case at HGV. Our company is all about vacations, and the importance of taking time away with loved ones is ingrained in everything we do. (We take vacations so seriously, we put them in our name.)

“In my experience, the culture at HGV is very pro-PTO,” said Meagan. “We've even had internal campaigns encouraging Team Members to ‘make time to take time.’”

“I've always understood that as long as you can manage your workload and plan accordingly, you can take the necessary time. Of course, we have to work together as a team and help each other, being mindful about when we take our time, but that's never been a problem.”??

Unlimited PTO is one of the many reasons our Team Members voted Hilton Grand Vacations a Newsweek Most Loved Workplace . Join a group of travel enthusiasts who are passionate about #LifeAtHGV and start your career with us today .
