Does optimistic leadership even really matter?
A lot of times we start thinking about a crisis or pandemic, we start thinking about the bottom line and what we're going to do to protect it.
But what we often forget is the importance of instilling optimism and hope in our employees. And it is so critically important because research shows us employees that are more optimistic deliver better results. They are more resilient and they are more likely to persevere through challenges.
On a business level they're much more highly engaged and highly engaged employees deliver bottom line results. They deliver higher profitability, better quality, better efficiency.
You name it, pretty much across the board optimistic employees perform better.
So, does optimistic leadership really matter?
Absolutely, because you as a leader, if you are more optimistic, if you’re role modeling optimism and hope for uncertain situation that you're facing, in a crisis, the business results will come from that.

4 年Foundational to optimism is realism. One has to be realistic about where one is. So, realism is optimism to a pessimist. One has to be optimistic as to the future; after all, if a strategy/course of action is not intended to better the position one currently is in (viewed realistically, which I admit is tough to do, but not impossible), then why bother? So action-focused optimism based on a realistic assessment of current conditions is the only sensible course. To do and to lead otherwise is insane.
