Are you disappointed you haven’t achieved your career goals this year?
Do you want 2024 to be “your year” but aren’t sure what you need to do?
?
I’m hosting a live (and free) webinar this month called “A Painless 3-Step Plan to Figure Out What’s Next for You and Your Career in 2024 .”
?
Whatever your goals are, you need a plan to get there.
?
But creating that plan may be difficult given everything else you have going on in your life and career! Plus, the Holidays are approaching, and we know how important that time is for us and our families.
?
This is one reason why I created this webinar: to help you figure out what your next steps are! I’m hosting this webinar three times this month, and each one will be LIVE. The dates are:
?
In this webinar, you’ll learn:
·????? How to factually assess what’s happening in your career to determine the likelihood that a new job or promotion will be a reality.
·????? Why you should stop saying you’re “valuable” and learn how to communicate your value differently so people care about you and what you do.
·????? The biggest thing holding you back from getting the results you want in your career – and most people don’t recognize it.
·????? And how to create a 3-step plan that you can do during this webinar to set you up for greater career success in 2024.
?
A replay will be available for all registrants for a limited time, but you must register to get the replay.
?
?
As the Holidays quickly approach, it can be very easy to get consumed with all of the festivities and put your career aspirations and goals on the back burner until we ring in 2024.
?
Please don’t.
?
Now is a PERFECT time to assess what’s working and what isn’t as you build Your Mid-Career GPS to whatever is next.
?
For example, here are a couple of questions I have recently answered from my clients.

Question: Is it really possible to find a job between now and the end of the year?
?
Answer: Absolutely! While companies are taking a bit longer to make their final decision, there is always pressure and a need to get talent in place before the year ends. Companies are hiring, and people are looking, but you must strategically position yourself in the marketplace. It’s “easy” to think that companies are busy and not looking for talent between Thanksgiving and the end of the year. While that may be true in some cases, it’s not true in all cases. Find the companies who need someone like you!
?
Question: I’m not good at networking and don’t enjoy it. However, I’ve heard that networking is a great way to find a new job. What tips do you have to help me network more confidently?
?
Answer: The Holidays are a GREAT time to network, especially if there is someone in your network you haven’t spoken to in a while. I get it. Networking makes you vulnerable, especially if you will ultimately ask them for something – like if their company is hiring. How would you feel if you simply contacted someone by email, DM, or phone and checked in to see how they are doing? Acknowledge that it’s been a busy year and time is flying by, but you thought of them and wanted to connect. Invite them to a coffee or a meal. Share why you want to connect with them. Give them a heads-up that you’d like to know who you can connect them to so they can think about that answer before you meet. Remember, givers get – and the Holidays are a great time to give. And warm up your network. They will be happy to help you, too.

?
If you don’t want to lead or are looking to take a step back from your leadership role, you may wonder how to add value as a “follower” or “individual contributor” when everyone is telling you that you should be leading.
?
There is tremendous value for mid-career professionals in non-leadership roles, and honestly, this is a place where you can thrive. But you must be clear about your goals and expectations when being an excellent and dutiful follower.
?
And for mid-career professionals, you will often find yourself doing a careful dance between leading and following.
?
In this episode, I will share some advantages of being a valuable follower and how this can be a key component to building Your Mid-Career GPS. Plus, if you are leading talent, you’ll want to listen because I’ve got some tips to help you manage and lead people who are more comfortable in the support role.

Episode 198: The Hidden Assets of Being a Stellar Follower or Individual Contributor
Have you ever felt you’ve fallen out of love with your job or organization? At one time, everything was GREAT, and now you don’t feel appreciated or feel like someone is out to get you.
?
This episode is inspired by an interview I heard with Tom Bergeron, the former Dancing with the Stars host, who shared how he fell out of love with the show because of organizational change and politics.
?
His experience is highly relatable, and I’m sure you can relate to this episode. Click the links below to listen.

1 年You are always providing fantastic insights, John! I love the webinars! This is the season to say, 'Let's circle back after the holidays.' It goes along with this: "As the Holidays quickly approach, it can be very easy to get consumed with all of the festivities and put your career aspirations and goals on the back burner until we ring in 2024." Then, January begins, and you feel desperate to find a new job or think about career goals for your next performance review.
