Why is a Network Hardware Vendor at VMworld

I have spent the last three days at VMworld in Barcelona which Arista has supported for a number of years. As one of the supporters of this event we exhibited in the VMworld Solutions Exchange which featured the latest products and solutions from over 130 sponsors and exhibitors with access to a very large audience from around the EMEA region. While a number of years ago the main question was "Why are you at this event you are a Network Hardware Vendor" we have seen a gradual transition to acceptance and implementation of the vision that we have delivered from the outset of our business Software Driven Cloud Networking Based on our four pillars

The Four Pillars of Arista's Software Driven Cloud Networking are:

Pillar 1: Universal Cloud Network

  • Scalable standards-based MLAG for L2, ECMP for Layer 3
  • Non Blocking Spline/ Leaf-Spine for 50K-100K hosts

Pillar 2: Cloud Control

  • Standards Based EOS with AEM, ZTP / ZTR, LANZ, DANZ, RAIL etc.
  • Automated Monitoring

Pillar 3: Network Wide Virtualization

  • Multi Vendor API Support with eAPI
  • Support for VMware and NSX with VXLAN and VMTracer
  • Support for Microsoft OMI and Openstack OVSDB

Pillar 4: Network Applications & Automated Management

  • Networked Applications for workload mobility, smart systems rollback and upgrades and workflow telemetry
  • Single Point of Network-Wide State with no proprietary lock in CloudVision?
  • Open-partner integration with Dell, HP, F5, Infinera, PAN, Microsoft, Red Hat, and VMware

Working with our technology partners and customers we have seen a dramatic adoption of the collaboration between IT Departments in delivering automation, self service provisioning and linear scaling of both performance and economics. We met with many companies from all regions and all verticals who are interested in learning more about how they can take advantage of the power that Arista and vmware along with a whole host of other technology partners bring together.

"I have been asked by my network guy to come and see you as apparently you have great integration with vmware NSX to make my life easier" - Anon Head of Infrastructure

This year VMworld has been the defining moment of open system vendors bringing real world value to customers and prospects. Thanks vmware for a great three days and looking forward to VMworld 2017.
