Why NBA Star Lebron James Is a Lesson in Recruitment
Talent attracts Talent.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are in the hunt for a National Basketball Association Championship title against the Golden State Warriors thanks to one of the greatest basketball players of all-time, Lebron "the King" James.
This time last year the Cav's were out of the playoffs with little hope for the future. They were watching Lebron James, their home town hero, compete in his forth championship finals with the Miami Heat.
But all that changed July 11th, 2014. Lebron James decided to move from Miami to Cleveland and join the Cav's. Instantly the Cavaliers organization had hope.
But James brought more than just his "talent." He brought a history of success. He brought media and attention. Most importantly, he brought great players with him.
Talent attracts talent. Better people make you better. Success is contagious.
Mike Miller and James Jones followed Lebron James from Miami (who moves from Miami to Cleveland?). Kevin Love signed with Cleveland with hopes of winning a championship with James. People follow great leaders.
Hire the best people and your organization will succeed. Not just because the best people help the bottom line, but the best people attract the best people. They help build a successful company in the most intangible ways. The best are contagious.
Talent attracts talent.

9 年Nice post James! This is one of the areas I tend to sell candidates on when I know who the leader that is in place is (reputation and accomplishments) rather than compensation as great candidates/athletes will make financial sacrifices to be surrounded by a winning team
