Why the nations foodbanks are heading 4 bankruptcy this Winter

The massive increase in the number of people & pets seeking the help and support of independent food banks across Britain before the winter of discontent and excessive fuel bills kick in, with rising prices this winter could send many to the wall, across the Uk food banks are already out of food and closing down whilst my own We Care food bank the largest Independent food bank in Britain and one of the only once that exists to help anyone in crisis that walk s through our doors only has enough cash to get us to Christmas.

There is a popular but wrong perception that food banks are funded by the Government or local Councils, the reality is that every independent foodbank in Britain is run by unpaid volunteers who like ours have to crowdfund to raise the cash to buy the food, pay the rent and pay the utility bills to run our fridges and freezers and keep the lights on when once we could depend on surplus food from cafes, restaurants and supermarkets the food shortages directly impact negatively on what is on our shelf, one local food bank in my area 6 months ago would have 34 tables set up with food, last week they had just one table of food to offer whilst a regular food waste food distributor We Care depend upon last week could only deliver a lorry load of papadoms, that was it, We Care has 3000 plus members of its food pantry alone, many with dietary issues, Glutton free, Vegan, kosha, halal, dairy-free, hungry people get very aggressive when they arrive to find they don't have the choose of food they had just 6 weeks ago , but rising prices with zero cash income is only the pathway to going bust , as a charity our running costs are ￡25,000 a year , and even though we feed more people than the big cooperate food bank operator able to offer ￡31,000 a year for a project development worker , when they only open one day a week , we do not have a PR and marketing department to drive cash donations from the bifg business and celebrity donation circuit or have the well funded vans and trucks to collect food from supermarkets , so this Christmas if we do not raise the other ￡23,000 we need just to stand still we will close our doors , we cannot continue on the free labour of our volunteers and the kindness of strangers, yes we would love to have money to pay a manager , our work is not just about giving food, the support , advice and help we give is truly live saving , who will feed & support those most in need when come October their is no longer a food bank voucher option , because only the cooperate food banks that make money out of this crisis will exist .

We Care has done extraordinary work and justly won a shed load of awards, but none of this pays our rent or allows the luxuary of paying a manager to run a project as complex as ours, We Care story could be any Independent Food Bank in any community in Britain, Please give what you can to your INDEPENDENT food bank or don't be surprised that come 2024 the big issues is the loss of the Nations 4th emergency service, Its Foodbanks
