Why Nashville?

Laughing! That is the most common question I seem to get asked every single day! You see I am one of the many crazy and fun Californian’s who decided to buy the boots and hat and head East! Yeehaw!

The question is always though why? I think for every person there are a few distinct reasons and then some quite common ones. ?I do not know if you can rank the reasons but for me, I think most important was the pace of life… you see I lived in beautiful Central Texas for almost 30 years and couldn’t love the people and?place any more, just not the weather! Ugh. My 25-year-old son was born on the day of the 500-year flood, twenty-four inches of rain in 24 hours! Now my son just happens to be amazing so maybe there is something to the historic flood and good juju but during the time of it, not so much. When I left Texas, I always felt an ache for the southern people with amazing hospitality. I truly never had or will have any better friends and neighbors or what I call community. So, when I traveled to Nashville and someone would say thank you Ma’am or show that southern hospitality, it just felt like home.?

Another particularly important reason for most of us California migrators is the cost of living! Geez! California has just gone and lost their minds on gas, taxes, homelessness, and food! My happy meal in Tennessee is half the price, the $2.75 a gallon for gas, the electricity, groceries, and even new car tags! The homeless crisis in California sadly is very real and when you experience the cost of living in California you can see why. That is why Tennessee Real Estate was also appealing with more land and the cost of housing. I seemed to picture myself after a long day, sipping a beverage on a big front porch or my early mornings, starting my quiet time there every day. So, when I started looking, that was one of my visions and was blessed to have found an amazing house with all the above, even the quintessential southern porch swing. It has now become the best part of every evening and morning! And of course, my golden retriever Brinkley’s too. Smile.?

Other added benefits being a road warrior is the airport, which is a central location for all my flights. I have been on ten flights in the last 3 months and the average time is 1 to 2 hours max and most nonstop! This makes my travel so much easier and even allows one day less of travel when I am going somewhere. For me, more time at home is always the goal. I consider that a huge win when living anywhere. I have also had several industry colleagues make the move, so bimonthly coffee is down the street is just an impressive way to do business.

Last but certainly not least, is home means something different to everyone. Home can be Boston, Chicago, Seattle, it just must feel like YOUR home. Home for me was a place that allowed me to breathe, enjoy life, community and have some fun in the process. The amazing restaurants, country music and beautiful rolling hills also do not hurt.?So, when asked, Why Nashville? My answer is for me, it is home.
