Why the name FunDonor?

Why the name FunDonor?

I was asked this by a popular blogger recently and he published my answer. Have a look. My response is at no 10. Everything I said is true. It all stemmed from a simple idea and my desire to create a way to give back. As the idea developed, I realised I could use the platform to tackle 2 concerns.

  • A lack of young donors.
  • Poor transparency within charities.

I wanted to make it fun as well...and how on earth do you get young people keen to donate and have fun at the same time? They're just too busy enjoying life, at least that's the image implanted in many of us. So I took to asking young people these very questions. What would make them donate and what would be a good incentive? Then the idea of using social media to engage with their celebrity role models was floated. That was it. I realised I might have stumbled on a niche. Add a further incentive of a cash rewards and that nailed it. The fact that we could offer financial rewards to young people for having fun. Coool. All this inspired the obvious name – Fun Donor – Have Fun Donating!
