Why Is My PMP Deal Still Spending Money After Turning It Off?

Why Is My PMP Deal Still Spending Money After Turning It Off?

I recently got this question:?

“I was running a private deal, and the campaign is off, but I am still recording spend. Do you know why?”

As a programmatic media trader, your role involves buying and optimizing digital advertising inventory using DSPs and sometimes ad servers like CM360. You set up and manage campaign performance, optimize ad placements, and maximize the effectiveness of online advertising campaigns. This means real-time bidding on ad spaces across various platforms to ensure efficient and data-driven decisions, ultimately boosting results and ROIs.

The short answer is I don’t know why but I know how to stop it and prevent it.?

Here are specific steps to address this issue:

  1. Turn off everything:Ensure placements or tags provided via an ad server like CM360 are completely turned off. I’m talking about logging into CM360 and manually turning it off.?
  2. Remove/detach the creatives:It might sound basic, but it works. The DSP will stop serving ads if you remove/delete/unattach the creative associated with the line item or ad group where the deal was running.
  3. Pull a report and verify:If spend persists, pull a report with the deal ID, including the campaign, ad group, and associated creative and investigate where it is coming from to then do #1 or #2.??
  4. Preventive measures:- Best practice is to run individual deals per ad group or line items. This will ensure efficient spending and effective optimization sessions.?- Ensure creatives, placements, or ad server tags are unique to the ad group and deals. Similarly to the point above, it may require you to clone or duplicate.?- Run daily/weekly pacing reports to track spend and stay ahead of underspend during the deal's flight.

If you have similar everyday question like the above ???? feel free to ask them in our community slack channel or DM me.?
