Why My Client Quit FocalPoint Business Coaching

Today was an interesting day with clients. It was typical as I spoke to several business coaches who wanted to grow their coaching business using LinkedIn. One of them, not surprisingly, was a FocalPoint Certified Business Coach who needed more clients.

His story resonated with me like so many other Certified Business Coaches I've spoken with and my clients from FocalPoint. Surprisingly though, he had managed to get two coaching clients already in his few months as a FocalPoint Certified Business Coach.

That's what makes him very different than most.

What makes him exactly the same is he was using the exact same strategies that used to work to get coaching clients back in the day when Brian Tracy, Bob Proctor, and Tony Robbins and the first round of business and life coaches were coming up through the ranks...

Before LinkedIn was the place to get coaching clients.

When running all over town, making a "Champions' List", and calling everybody you knew to see if they or somebody they knew "wanted coaching" was the new thing to do.

Newsflash...

Nobody wants coaching!

But everybody I know has problems they want to solve and would be willing to pay somebody big bucks to help them solve them...

Somebody who's a true expert in their field and knows exactly what their problem is and has a unique and different approach or a proven system that will help them get the outcome they want in their life or business faster, better, easier, or for less money than they could on their own.

Honestly, I am shocked that FocalPoint, Robbins-Madanes, and Proctor Gallagher are still teaching new coaches and franchisees to be a generalist and use the "spray and pray shotgun approach" to get new coaching clients when you're first starting out.

I don't know about you, but the last time I had a problem big enough for me to pay big bucks for was to specialist. Heck my dentist even referred me to an endodontist recently for a root canal.

After examining my tooth, the endodontist, a true expert in his field and not just a money-hungry generalist trying to solve everything with the same cut-and-paste expensive solution, wanted to do an ultrasound first because he didn't want to mess with the vitality of my tooth if I didn't need it. And turns, I didn't need the root canal after all!

That's the type of EXPERT Business Coaches need to be if they want to attract and convert high ticket clients from cold traffic on LinkedIn, close more deals in less time, and start making the big bucks they invested big money to become certified with a $50k+ Business Coaching Franchise they probably didn't need in the first place!

NOT a generalist trying to compete in the booming coaching industry with all the other 2.2 million business coaches on LinkedIn and the new ones popping up by the thousands everyday.

By standing out and being unique - that's how you get coaching clients on LinkedIn.

NOT by blending in and making yourself the same as everybody else...

The FocalPoint Certified Business Coach I spoke with this morning had the nerve to tell me he wasn't an expert at anything!

And the two coaching clients he managed to sign up reflected his lack of expertise: a career coaching client and a small to medium sized business owner client. .

Come to find out when I checked his LinkedIn profile, he had 30 years of experience in a niche retail industry. He'd owned 3 stores himself that were profitable in the first year, had great reviews as an industry leader, and even had an MBA...

Yet due to his training with FocalPoint (or shall I say brainwashing), he felt he was not an expert in anything and that he needed to purchase a Certified Business Coaching franchise in order to be a business coach. Instead of sharing his unique knowledge, expertise, and wisdom he'd acquired from rising to the top as a leader in his niche over the past 30 years.

I'm not trying to be disrespectful and wish to commend him for desiring to help people through his life's work.

In fact, he sounds just like my client, another extremely accomplished Focalpoint Certified Business Coach with 30 years experience in her field who announced in today's coaching call she's leaving FocalPoint. After working with me for just 4-weeks, she's ready to step into the spotlight and claim her space as the expert senior credentialed adviser and specialized business coach she's been all along.

After a year-and-a-half pounding the pavement as a FocalPoint Certified Business Coach with ZERO coaching clients in just 4-weeks using our strategies she's already landed her first two coaching clients and has calls scheduled with two more hot prospects from LinkedIn on the books for this week!

I'm so excited!

This is exactly why I love what I do!
