Why My Badly Insulated Shed Makes Me Who I Am Today

In just 1 day, I will be going on a spiritual journey of a lifetime - the Hajj.
So it’s given me time to reflect on the journey the company I co-founded has been on.
In just over a year, I’ve seen what the combination of hard work, perseverance through struggle and dedication can do.
The best dreams often have to start small.
And that’s exactly what I did, with my side of the MIN journey starting out of my bedroom.
I can still hear the lengthy Skype conversations with partners, which at the time I felt were going nowhere, ring loud in my mind today.
As the paperwork piled up (and with the addition of my wife in my life), so did the need to move on out, and into something more aspirational.
And that’s exactly what I did - moving into my glamorous shed-office.
Driven by the motivation that google also started in similar humble beginnings, I knew it’d prove to be a fruitful move.
(See the 4 walled, well insulated (not), setting of my shed below).
Within 6 months, the team was expanding (and so was the need to move out of the shed, no matter how homely my wife tried to make it), moving into the large campus of the Sharp Project.
And within 2 months, having successfully served the likes of Rubicon, Co-Op, Omnicom amongst others, our team had almost doubled in size, culminating in moving into to our first, complete purpose-built office.
With the picture of the members around the table taken during our recent team building / forget work for a few days, ‘away’ days.
In our journey of trying to achieve our purpose - of empowering the Influencers of today, to better the society of tomorrow (or simply put, helping Influencers understand their positions of responsibility to make the world a better place), I’d say personally, I’ve only taken a small step.
But when you have an amazing support network, a hungry and dedicated team and a purpose bigger than yourself, that small step, in just over a year, can feel like a monumentally huge one.
