Why My 2020 Was Great!

Aren't you fed up of hearing about Covid-19 and how 2020 was the supreme annus horribilis?

To close off 2020, I thought I'd go against the tide and offer you 10 reasons why my 2020 was actually great. In fact, here are ten things - in no particular order - that would probably not have materialized in a "normal" year and for which I am greatful for 2020:

  1. I started training again and kept it up throughout the year.
  2. I spent (a lot!) more time with my loved ones.
  3. I saved about 600 hours of commute time, energy and related expenses.
  4. Confinement and working from home allowed me to re-center my priorities, increase my focus and tackle bigger challenges at work.
  5. I reconnected with old friends with a renewed perspective and more kindness.
  6. I learned how to smoke salmon and brisket.
  7. I finally rested during the holiday season.
  8. I read a lot more books.
  9. I stopped buying jackets, blazers, coats and multi-color socks.
  10. I did a road trip in Gaspésie and saw Caribous and a Moose up close (See photo).

I think being positive about these past 12 months is important for one's mindset and can be used as a great springboard to an even greater 2021!

So reflect upon it: How was your 2020 great?

Cheers and Happy New Year!
