Why my 1st year at ServiceNow has been meaningful
This month, I celebrate one year with ServiceNow. When I joined the company, our CEO Bill McDermott told me that I would be more inspired and challenged than any other role I have had in my career. And he was right. I have never had a role quite like this because there is no company quite like ServiceNow.??
When a brand you work for promises to make the world work better, you can only imagine the incredible innovation and culture you experience that enables you deliver that.??
As I reflect on the past year, I am humbled by the kindness, energy, and collaboration I experience every day. It’s an honor to be on this rocket ship with more than 18,000 committed employees who are constantly dreaming bigger for each other and for our customers.?
In celebration of my 12 months of growing, building, and having a lot of fun along the way, here are few things that have made the experience meaningful:??
Connections and culture make the work.
We know employees can be successful anywhere with the right tools and resources. That has been proved in many ways over the last couple of years, and I can speak from experience. I onboarded remotely, which was a first in my career, but I have never felt closer and more connected to a brand or a team given the strong culture and commitment to this type of work. Using the tools and technology we have at ServiceNow have helped create a culture of great connections and belonging. With these two key ingredients, we are driving great work, together.

Winning as a team is more important than having a winning team.??
When we work together, we do good work. When we collaborate across teams, we can do great work. The People team is comprised of some of the best HR professionals I’ve had the honor of working with, and together, we’ve made tremendous progress on building a talent system to attract, grow, and retain people to drive our business forward. And when we work cross functionally within our team and extend that to our partners across the ServiceNow business, magic happens! Together with Lara Caimi, Gina Mastantuono, Nick Tzitzon, Michael Park, Paige Young, Chris Bedi, and others, we’ve been able to elevate our programs and truly make the world work better. This is all because we work as one team.?
People-led and tech-enabled is the right order.??
ServiceNow has a reputation of being people-led and tech-enabled, not the other way around and I was intrigued to find out how this really worked at a technology company. I’ve discovered that our technology solutions are successful because we put the customer at the center. We start with the problems people are trying to solve or the opportunities they want to capture. And then we build the technology to help.??
Purpose-driven leadership is a game-changer.??
To succeed in this ever-changing world, you need more than a winning business strategy and a good product. You need a leadership team who has a purpose and a vision. Our purpose is to make the world work better for everyone. It drives us to create the connections that help people do their best work. Our platform brings people, processes, and systems together. Our leaders and our values allow us to take a stand on important social, equity, and humanitarian issues. The bold leadership we see every day makes it easier for each of us to deliver on our purpose and to mean it when we say we make the world work better for everyone.?
And that’s why we launched our People Pact, which aligns our purpose and our people strategy to our business strategy. We want to live our best life and do our best work, while fulfilling our purpose together.
In a year of constant change, I am grateful to my team across ServiceNow. In the past year, my belief in the power of creativity, technology, and people to solve problems, transform industries, all while making a positive impact in the larger community has been renewed.?
