Why most people can’t, don’t, or won’t change.

Why most people can’t, don’t, or won’t change.

“Most people can’t change because they don’t want to admit they are doing things wrong or doing things they shouldn’t.” – EWL

There are three main reasons why people can’t, don’t, or won’t change:

1.      It's hard to accept they need to.

2.      It’s easier to blame others.

3.      It’s easier to stay the same.

Most people have a hard time taking a realistic view of themselves and accepting that their own character and personal choices are the reasons they are not where they wish to be in life.

There is a human inclination to explain personal difficulties, problems, and short-comings by blaming someone else. In their hearts, most people know their lack of success is about them but publicly…its all about what others are doing to them.

Truth is, change can hurt and people do everything they can to avoid pain. One of the truest quotes about people and change is from Tony Robbins: “Change happens when the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of change.”

In the end, what most people need is someone to point out that they need to change and force them to feel the pain “of staying the same.” They need a ‘Jiminy Cricket’ sitting on their shoulders to help them do what they need to do.

“Most people don’t change; they just become more the way they already are.” - Joseph Burgo
