A popular quote from Mark Twain states: "The two most important days in your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why." The underlying message is powerful: the day you discover your purpose in life may be even more significant than your birthday.

Our birthdays are undeniably momentous occasions. They mark our entry into the world and are often celebrated with joy and anticipation. However, birthdays are passive events; we have no control over when or where we are born. It's the day we discover our "why" that ignites the engine of our lives, propelling us toward a sense of fulfillment and direction.

Many of us spend years, even decades, drifting through life without a clear sense of purpose. We chase societal expectations, climbing the corporate ladder or accumulating possessions, only to find ourselves unfulfilled. The reason for this is simple: lack of clarity.?

The day you discover your purpose is a turning point. It's like finally finding the missing piece of a puzzle. Suddenly, your life experiences – past, present, and future – take on a new meaning. You understand why you are here and what unique contribution you can make.

This newfound clarity has several profound effects:

  1. Motivation: When you know your "why," you have a powerful source of internal motivation. Challenges no longer seem daunting, but rather stepping stones on your path.
  2. Direction: Purpose acts as a compass, guiding your decisions and actions. You begin to prioritize activities that align with your values and goals, creating a sense of progress and accomplishment.
  3. Fulfillment: Pursuing your purpose brings a sense of meaning that external rewards often fail to provide. It fosters a deep sense of satisfaction and joy in living a life true to yourself.

But where do we discover this purpose?

The answer lies in the environment where we find ourselves most engaged and fulfilled.?

  • Fulfilling a Calling: We aren't born with a pre-programmed purpose, but rather develop a calling over time. This calling often arises from the environment where we find ourselves most engaged and fulfilled. It might be a specific career path, a cause we deeply care about, a creative outlet that fuels our soul, or the nurturing relationships we build.
  • A Shared Journey: Ultimately, our purpose is intertwined with the world around us. By collaborating with others, we can tackle complex challenges, unlock new knowledge, and create a better future. In this sense, the "birthplace" of our purpose becomes the space where these connections and collaborations flourish.

The "where" becomes instrumental in defining the "why." It's through exploration, experimentation, and collaboration that we discover the activities and communities that ignite our purpose. This purpose, in turn, guides us towards a life of meaning and fulfillment.

Join the upcoming Clarity Session this July 11, 9AM-10:30PM PST to discover “where” you’re executing your purpose. Great thoughts Mitchell ! It is true that is a very challenging discovery and many people do not even think about it in their whole life. The key will be how to include this aspect in the educational school path. To teach children to ask themselves the right questions. Why would I learn? Why would I have good relationships with my other school mates? Etc. They would be much prepared to choose easily their purpose in life.

It's the shared journey that resonated for me. As I reflect on my lifes journey to date, when I shifted from an independent mindset and approach to one that was interdependent that's when my best work, best life, my calling emerged. Thanks for sharing Mitchell Levy, CCS
