Why most demos SUCK ?

Only few demos mesmerize, most of them fail..

The demoing teams are often obsessed about showing what thee sweat and blood could make work .The audience gives a DAMN to it.. it often just cant make sense of what the developers are obsessing over..

A good demo just like a movie trailer needs a good script.. A good script can only come from people who are great communicators and understand human cognition.. Great communicators are not born.. They train themselves to write well. They are disciplined and erudite enough to use a structure.

I came across 4 essential ingredient of a great demo.. and it looks like this..

  1. WORKFLOW BOTTLENECKS - Your script should show how many bottlenecks are eliminated by your proposed software. Can you quantify the increase in speed of execution ? Can you show how the pipe becomes bigger and ramp up the bandwidth or throughput ?

2. TRANSACTION PROCESSING - Where, How, and Why does the system improve the transactions humans want to execute? How has it been made effortless and magical?

3. INFORMATION RETRIEVAL - How does the software improve inquiry and reporting capabilities? Can people improve their decision making from the visualization your software provides

4. ADAPTABILITY - How easily can the software be adapted to changing business needs? Preferably through a detailed Display of workflow. Can the heartcare system you built be repurposed to handle the lifecycle of cataract surgery too?

Do you think these form a compelling mix ? Is there anything else which needs to be added ?
