Why More Women Should Become HGV Drivers.

It is about time that female truck drivers get some of the attention they deserve! Female truckers are not discriminated against within the industry, but there is still much work to be done to ensure equality and opportunity for all women and to encourage more women to become drivers.?

Did you know that only 1% of HGV drivers are women?! The number of younger women wanting to enter the profession is improving though, with 15 per cent aged between 21 and 25 (FTA).

Today’s modern HGV vehicles are automatic, have intelligent cruise control, automatic braking and are cleaner (and quieter) than ever before. In fact, according to the Road Haulage Association (RHA) 50% of HGVs on the road are Euro VI – the cleanest emissions standard, and twenty trucks today make the same amount of noise as one truck from the 1970s.

Career potential

As a driver, you will be joining the logistics and haulage industry – the UK’s fifth-largest sector, with over 2.54m people employed.
