Why More Companies Are Taking On Apprenticeships With The Learning Foundry.

The Learning Foundry offers loads of different options to help people find the perfect career. From our trained tutors offering support and advice, to on-the-job work experience, we can assist in breaking down any barrier and get people on the right path.

One of these options, Apprenticeships, is increasing in popularity as more young people are beginning to turn away from school or college and seek alternative ways of starting new careers.

From Business Admin and Housing to Dental and Childcare, we work with several great organisations and businesses that share our belief on the importance of the continued upskilling of young people. Through this we can provide apprenticeships with companies that aim to make learners time as rewarding and enriching as possible, so they can become great assets to the continued development of the Liverpool City Region.

Why do businesses take on Apprenticeships?

It’s no secret that employing apprentices is positive for business.

In fact, 96% of employers that take on an apprentice report benefits. Apprentices can bring in new ideas that can help speak to younger generations, as well as provide fresh energy to ensure companies keep their competitive edge.

Available to anyone over the age of 16 and covering all levels and abilities, apprenticeships give employers the perfect opportunity to develop staff in-house.?

A lot of companies, especially local businesses, often like to employ people for the long term. We’ve worked with businesses who have taken on apprenticeships, trained them in the company procedures and policies so by the end of the apprenticeship programme, the apprentice is welcomed as a fully trained member of staff and able to make a quick impact.

Apprenticeships are helpful for new businesses as they quickly develop a work force and fill any employment gaps that will help with any early growth while taking advantage of government incentives of up to £4000.00 for taking an apprenticeship on.

TLF: First Rate Training Providers

At The Learning Foundry, through our range of high-quality apprenticeship programmes, with dedicated and expert staff, a strong sense of duty to improve young people’s employ-ability and development, we support businesses looking to recruit new members to their team or up-skill existing staff.

Kevin Short of The Regenda Group, has worked with a number of TLF apprentices and understands the importance on training young people into skilled workers. When asked about using TLF as a training provider he had this to say. ?

‘It’s really good to have an apprentice in the team. You need young people who are enthusiastic, vibrant, have the willingness to learn and to develop. It’s a good chance to mould our future work force, develop their skills, enhance opportunities. TLF has helped us find people who were the right cultural fit and they offer day to day support in ordinance with the business needs. They’re there at the end of a call to support the apprentice, to support the manager and to help support company and apprentice relations.’

All our programmes are delivered in line with national standards and have been developed alongside industry professionals to meet the individual needs of the businesses we work with.

?What is the Apprenticeship Levy?

Since 2017, the Apprenticeship Levy has been a compulsory payroll tax for UK based employers. If you are a public or private?employer with a pay bill of over £3 million each year, you will pay the apprenticeship levy. The levy is a set rate of 0.5% of the total payroll and is collected monthly via PAYE.

The aim of the levy is to encourage employers to actively support apprenticeships, promoting the development of new and existing employees.

Levy paying employers

As a levy paying employer, you can create an apprenticeship account through the government website. This allows you to:

? Receive and transfer levy funds

? Manage your apprentices

? Make, stop or pause payments.

Funds in your levy account can be used to pay for apprenticeship training for staff who work at least 50% of the time in England. Levy funds can't be used towards an apprentice's wages.?

When you choose The Learning Foundry as your training provider, we will provide a cost for your tailored training programme and will fully support you to manage your apprenticeship account.

Levy funds will expire 24 months after they are added to your digital account, unless you spend the funds on Apprenticeship training.?

We’ll support you throughout the entire levy process, so you get the most out of your levy entitlement.

The Learning Foundry will carry out a FREE levy health check and training needs analysis of your workforce and put a tailored training programme in place, which allows you to strategically maximise your levy contributions. Our training is tailor made around your business needs and can be delivered at times, dates and locations to suit you.

Non-levy paying employers

If your pay bill is £3 million or less, you do not pay the apprenticeship levy. Non-levy paying employers share the cost of training and assessment of their apprentices with the government. This is called co-investment. Under co-investment, you pay 5% of the cost of the apprenticeship training. The government will pay the remaining 95% up to the funding band maximum. If your apprentice is aged 16–18 and you employ 49 members of staff or less, the cost of their training is fully funded by the government.?
