WHY MONDAY MOTIVATION ISN’T ENOUGH

I was chatting with a new client recently and we got on to the topic of motivation. She was telling me how she had tried various other weight loss programs, Slimming World being one, but after the initial wave of motivation, she soon gave up.
She was sick of the same old cycle and feeling like she was getting nowhere and had realised that she needed to make change stick, which is why she came to me.
The thing is, motivation waxes and wanes. You may have woken up this Monday morning thinking ‘I’m on it now….’ but be honest with yourself, how many Mondays have you said the same thing and how many times have you ended up back at square one?
Motivation is a short-term solution, relying on it alone will not help you reach your goal.
So, if you can’t rely on motivation alone, what can you rely on?
YOUR HABITS.
In order to make progress and achieve your goals, daily routines and habits are crucial.
Think about it, how many times have you started exercise, stuck with it for a few weeks, but then you have let it slip…..then, suddenly some motivation returns and you get back on it. And then the motivation wanes again…
I don’t know about you, but this inconsistency used to be me and it drove me crazy! Like my client, I could not understand why I wasn’t moving forward.
The key to success is to make everything a habit, bit by bit, one habit at a time. And any of my clients will tell you that this is EXACTLY what we focus on.
Weight loss and subsequent maintenance are built on a foundation of small habit change that accumulates and delivers impressive results.
These habits vary from person to person. They could include:
? Improving sleep
? Increasing step count
? Prepping your food
? Including veg in your evening meal.
Whatever your focus is, you need to make it routine which is where a nutrition coach comes in. Let’s face it, you have tried to do it alone…..
It may sound simple and obvious but why aren’t you where you need to be?
