Why mindset is NOT Everything and what you should work on FIRST.

Why mindset is NOT Everything and what you should work on FIRST.

Have you ever heard statements like 'Mindset is Everything', '80% of Success is Mindset and 20% is Strategy' and 'Mindset is what separates the Best from the Rest'?

Do YOU think you have a positive/growth mindset but YOU still find it hard to have the success you desire in YOUR career and life?

Do you feel like you can be DOING more and HAVING more in your life?

So if you have a positive/growth Mindset why aren't you DOING and HAVING more?

I might have an answer for you.

The patterns that keep people back from having the success they desire include:

  • Procrastination
  • Perfectionism
  • Playing Small instead of Playing Full Out
  • Too worried about what people think
  • Self Doubt
  • Self Sabotage

So can you have a positive mindset and still procrastinate?

Can you have a positive mindset and still Play Small?

Can you have a positive mindset and still Doubt Yourself?

I think you can answer that question and the answer is ABSOLUTELY YES.

Having a positive/growth mindset is essential to achieving success but YOU need to work on other aspects to really achieve the success you desire.

DOING usually involves taking an Action and if we look at the mechanics of the body it is actually our nervous system that controls the movements/actions of the body. [To learn more about the nervous system in a very simplistic way you can read this article]

You need to work on your BODY.
  • It's your nervous system that stops you from starting your blog or podcast or simply doing video to build your brand.
  • It's your nervous system that stops you from quitting that soul sucking job and starting that business you always wanted to start.
  • It's your nervous system that prevents you from following that diet and exercise program to lose the excess weight you KNOW you need to lose for better health and wellness.

So what can you do about your nervous systems so make it support and not hinder your goals and desires?

You can regulate your nervous system by making it FEEL SAFE that the action you are about to take is not going to harm you.

You see, when you are about to do something that you have never done before, the nervous system is unsure if the result is going to be harmful to you and since it's most fundamental job is to keep you safe, it STOPS YOU.

Every client of mine for the past 2 years goes through a series of continuous exercises that helps them get to the Root Cause of what has them STUCK in certain patterns as well as build success-friendly nervous system functioning.

There is a program specific for people who are STUCK in their careers and suffer from indecision, lack of clarity, procrastination etc. The program has helped many people to get UNSTUCK, discover their purpose, get clarity on their next best move, develop a growth mindset and most importantly TAKE ACTION!

We have one of the few coaching programs that works in holistic manner and addresses ALL the possible blocks to your success. Not only mindset but nervous system regulation + gut health + trauma informed + neuroscience informed + evidence based.

In the mean while, YOU can follow these 5 Steps to help regulate your nervous system and take action.

  1. Catch when You are in your patterns (procrastination, self doubt, indecision, self sabotage etc). Awareness is critical and if it is difficult to do on your own, get an accountability partner like a mentor or coach.
  2. Identify the STORY/THOUGHTs that YOU are telling yourself that triggers the patterns. Very important to be honest and write these down as it is really our thoughts that causes our patterns.
  3. Question whether the STORIES are true or rational. 95% of the times it would be untrue and irrational. It would be PROTECTIVE. This is the tough part because your mind will work very hard to convince yourself that the story is true and rational. An accountability partner like a mentor or coach would be very useful here.
  4. Choose a POWERFUL thought or STORY. Examples 'I will be safe even if I fail'. 'Now is always the best time to start', 'I can learn what it takes to be successful at this', 'I can get help from other people who has been successful at this', 'when I do this my life will go to the next level', 'my happiness is more important than this stressful job' etc.
  5. ACT. Take action instantaneously!

The trick is really switching from a PROTECTIVE THOUGHT to a POWERFUL one. It is important to practice this process regularly and what will happen is that new neurological pathways will develop in relation to doing 'new' things and make the nervous system feel comfortable about doing new things.

This one hour training will help you to get to the Root Cause of why your are procrastinating and lead to rapid transformation.

Title is clickbait, I guess! whatever you have discussed, starting from being self-conscious, identify patterns and working thereon, is PART of GROWTH mindset, No person with fixed mindset will even care about accepting there is something to work upon, he will keep telling same story for years (I have trained many of such people) so this blog is ALL about "Knowing and Doing gap" and not about HOW mindset is NOT everything!

I disagree on that statement that mindset is not everything! We'll if you find a person that you feel have a good mindset but still not doing good----that person could have "unauthentic" positive mindset. You may have missed to impress that indeed he has. If a person is truly having a good and positive mindset, the whole system of his being will transform and revolutionize to execute for success.... If you are under the body of a water (river, lake, ocean etc) you can not help but you must be wet, if you are under the influence of the positive mindset you can not help but be a mover, and a natural consequence to execute well .

Seems pretty insightful but I think I disagree on some parts. I have written a blog regarding mindset here: https://mindsetopia.com/mindset-is-everything/ Thanks Shane :)
