Why is the mindset of enterprise architecture important for digital transformation?

Digital transformation at the enterprise level is a business change that involves a very wide scope. It not only involves functions on the value chain, but involves branches in different regions and even countries.

Therefore, How to change from the current state to the future state step by step in an orderly manner and then to achieve the strategic goals is a question not easy to answer. From my personal perspective , thinking like a enterprise architect might be a ?good start.

Then, what is architecture? In short: architecture is a description of a system ‘s components and the relationships between them. For example ,We can imagine a company as a car. A car is a large and complex system. The architecture describes the components in the car (engine, gearbox, etc.) and how they interact with each other.

For a company, enterprise architecture consists of business architecture ,the data supporting it, ?applications and IT infrastructure. Different elements interweave and influence each other at different levels to jointly determine the capabilities and goals of future business.

In the process of designing the strategy of digital transformation, clarifying what the goals of the business architecture is (for instance, what capabilities company shall gain , how to improve processes and what type of ?organizational structures support future operating model well etc.), what kind of data architecture should be designed to supported business , and ?what IT environment like are the key factors which should be carefully taken into consider before designing the digital transformation strategy .
