Why Millennials have a Place on LinkedIn

One of my favorite things in LinkedIn Pulse these days is the initiative known as #Student voices. I'm following Tai Tran's students in their writing journey featuring a Millennial voice via @millennialideas, and it's as if I've stumbled upon the future of content on LinkedIn.
Students can become Campus Editors, and I'm excited that the content of young people is being highly featured on Pulse. These young millennials have quickly proven that their up to the challenge of leading a new generation of voices, blogging about issues relevant to you, to them and to us!
Combined with an increasing number of Millennials from India, LinkedIn feels invigorated with new voices driving content that's more relevant to a changing world.
Tai Tran burst onto the LinkedIn scene in 2015, and was name to Forbes 30 under 30 (Tai is 22!) and now helps Apple run its Twitter, among other good things. Tai is not just a LinkedIn Top Voice, but teaches and the quality of the writing of his students really demonstrates how content native these savvy digital natives are. I have been blown away by several of his students, who illustrate Millennial topics with fresh insights and values we can all learn from. To check out the LinkedIn student calendar for 2016, it's truly quite brilliant.
While Tai may be a pioneer and an exceptional social media strategist and writer, he's also a symbol of how Millennials can provide immediate value to companies and organizations in a world starving for more authentic and relevant content.
Millennial Insights are Valuable
As insights on Millennials are at an all-time high premium, Millennials themselves stand poised to take on new roles, leadership and teach organizations as much as they develop their own skills. #Service. Millennials teach us that at the end of the day, lifelong learning and being good corporate citizens is not just about results, but representative of a new culture that is emerging with a new value paradigm.
The popularity of socialist democratic candidate Bernie Sanders, and how his values have been embraced by Millennials is impressive & viral proof of this. Millennials are not just thriving while facing new challenges of the economy, but representative of a change in values in society that progressively embraces diversity, minority rights, equality, agility in the face of exponential change, building more sustainable cities and addressing the wealth gap that is becoming an issue in many countries.
Millennials teach us that at the end of the day, lifelong learning and being good corporate citizens is not just about results, but representative of a new culture that is emerging with a new value paradigm.
This among others, is the reason I'm such a personal fan of Millennials who are creating such quality content, such as the marketers affiliated with Black Marketing (HQ in Singapore), who create some of my favorite pulse articles on LinkedIn on a consistent basis, is because I recognize the quality in the viewpoints of Millennials, who often feel to me more in touch with the reality of an accelerating world. #StudentVoices
Tai Tran himself has over 35 insightful articles on social media and how to market to Millennials, you can read them here. His articles typically get over 500 likes, social proof that LinkedIn users care about Millennials, their fresh insights, and are as passionate about their potential as I am. Candice Galek, another Millennial whom I respect, is one of my favorite LinkedIn stories of 2016. How her B2C brand has made waves quite literally on Linkedin with her network growing viral to 30k, is simply genius on a platform usually known for B2B.
Besides being a stand out content producer himself who has gone viral, Tai is bringing insights from his teaching experience helping us fully grasp what we know already, the evolution of content and social media itself is following the youth.
Not mentioned here is of course Medium, which proves complementary to LinkedIn, as the word-count of articles on both platforms differs greatly. For Millennial content writers, my guess of them reading on the Medium app, is likely over the 80% range. However, what we are seeing is that LinkedIn pulse is uniting Asia with North America in content, better than any other platform and overtaking Quora, that is popular in India.
Millennial Content is Invigorating Pulse
I personally cannot keep up with all the talented Student writers, campus editors and terrific initiatives of Millennial content on LinkedIn Pulse, but I'm sure glad that the LinkedIn editors have made it a point to showcase some of their writing, as for me, it breathes new hope that LinkedIn inspite of a difficult February, contributes an increasingly valuable level of quality content and insights that are relevant to our times. So for all that LinkedIn has offered me as a user, and the promise of tomorrow that I feel in the content of Millennials, I have to say thank you.
Follow with me the student voices channel and support our younger writers. They really are our future. Get involved, and encourage students you know to publish and become student voices.

8 年MIchael, I think Student Voices is a great idea and fully support it. in answer to your question.
