At 365 iT SOLUTIONS, we have seen some incredible growth and movement from Microsoft Teams PBX in the SMB market.
As with all technology, there is no one size fits all and based on your business needs, Microsoft Teams PBX may or may not be the right fit.
Based on the recent Magic Quadrant for Unified Communications as a Service, Worldwide report from Gartner, organizations have a lot of choices when it comes to team communications.
According to the report, here are some interesting points:
By 2022, 74% of organizations will move at least 5% of their normal full-time, on-site workers, who had switched to working from home temporarily, into permanent remote-working positions.
By 2023, more than 50% of large organizations will connect to cloud providers using direct cloud connectivity from their WANs, up from 10% in 2019.
By 2024, 74% of the new unified communications licenses purchased by organizations will be cloud-based, up from 48% in 2019.
Who is Microsoft?
Microsoft is an industry leader with its Microsoft Teams service. It focuses on telephony, personal messaging, team messaging, and meeting capabilities. Its operations are geographically diversified. Clients are distributed across most segments and include Office 365 subscribers.
Some enhancements in the past 12 months include background blur and replacement, quality of experience over lossy networks; a 3x3 gallery view; live captioning, and faster join times.
It also includes nomadic Enhanced 911 support, expanded support for carrier PSTN access via Direct Routing (up to 90 countries), a new Satin codec supporting wideband voice at 7 Kbps, priority messaging notifications, message delegation, and message targeting at roles.
Microsoft Teams Strengths
Microsoft Teams has the most complete set of integrations with Microsoft’s Office 365 services and applications including Azure Active Directory, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Exchange Online.
Microsoft Teams collaboration features for messaging and meetings fully satisfy a significant percentage of the user base in organizations that want to add enterprise telephony at a low additional cost.
Microsoft Teams CONS
Microsoft Teams telephony capabilities are good enough for many organizations, but not for those that require advanced telephony features hence why other VOIP providers may be a better fit for your organization.
Microsoft Teams availability SLA target of 99.9% is considerably lower than that of most UCaaS competitors.
Microsoft Teams is not currently a suitable option for organizations that require contact center capabilities delivered from the same platform as UCaaS services.
