Why Metrics Matter: My Focus for 2025

Why Metrics Matter: My Focus for 2025

As the year comes to a close, my LinkedIn feed has been buzzing with posts from people reflecting on their achievements in 2024 and sharing their ambitions for 2025. Many of these posts include measurable metrics—revenue growth, sales made, weight loss goals, hours volunteered, or projects completed. Others focus on advice, offering tips for success in the coming year.

While I’ve appreciated the advice, I’ve noticed a common gap in these posts: they often lack measurable actions or metrics readers can track. This feels incomplete for someone like me, who thrives on practicality and clear results.

From Theory to Action

This realisation ties into a shift I’ve noticed in myself this past four years. Since diving into full-time study (again) in 2020 and writing exams (thankfully, that’s now behind me!), I’ve developed a preference for practical questions over theoretical ones. Give me a chart to analyse, a grid to organise, or metrics to calculate, and I’ll easily answer those questions. Ask me to regurgitate theory, and it feels far less meaningful.

Why? Because practical questions lead to actionable insights. They provide clarity on where you stand and what you need to do next. This is the mindset I want to carry forward into 2025.

My Plan for 2025: Metrics and Meaningful Growth

In 2025, I’m doubling down on tracking my personal and business metrics. These will guide my decisions, help me measure progress, and ensure that my goals are not just aspirational, but actionable.

Some metrics will be private, while others will emerge as the year unfolds, but the common theme will be measurable improvement. Whether it’s tracking business growth, personal development, or time management, I want clear indicators of where I am and where I’m going.

Sharing the Process

In 2025, I’ll be sharing strategies for tracking these metrics with my clients—both old and new. While I can’t reveal too much just yet, I’m excited to introduce a fresh approach to sharing actionable strategies. My focus will be on providing practical tools and insights to help clients track their progress and achieve measurable growth in both their businesses and personal lives.

My Resolution: Saying “No”

One specific goal for 2025 is to embrace the word “NO” more often. Both in my personal and business life, I’ve learned that saying “no” can be as powerful as saying “yes.” It allows me to focus on what truly matters, avoid distractions, and make room for the things that align with my values and priorities.

The Challenge I’m Setting

As I plan for 2025, I challenge myself—and perhaps you too—to focus on metrics that matter. It’s easy to get caught up in big ideas and general advice, but real growth happens when we track, measure, and act on what’s truly important.

Here’s to a year of meaningful progress, driven by actionable insights and the courage to say “no” when it counts.

What metrics are you planning to track in 2025?

Great post! In 2025, I'll be focusing on tracking metrics that balance outcomes with impact - both personally and professionally. Loved the age joke - it’s a clever reminder that growth is a constant!
