What is Darwinism really?
People keep saying it's "survival of the fittest".
But what does "fit" mean?
Does "fit" mean strong?
Does "fit" mean, well, mean?
Does "fit" mean aggressive?
If that were the case, then why is the Tyrannosaurus rex dead, and the tiny, cute chameleon still alive?
"Fit" doesn't necessarily mean strong.
"Fit" means adaptable.
That may also mean being adaptable to the job that keeps changing around you, while not getting too flighty and losing your trail every 5 minutes.
Why do I think this is relevant to anybody today?
Because a whole lot of people are about to find out that being a dinosaur is a bad idea in a market where whole professions just disappear - not just the ones at the bottom, the ones for those with little education, but those at the top as well.

People used to say that being a jack of all trades is being a master of none, but that’s a pretty dangerous position nowadays where many jobs, both those at the bottom and those at the top, just disappear due to digitization, automation, and AI. It's good to specialize and get really good at something, but you may want to develop some other, non-correlated skills as well and learn the basics and maybe even some get some medium-range skills in other areas, which will give you a much better chance not to drown should your profession disappear overnight. Which some do and have already done.
It's part of a course we offer, by the way (inserting a shameless plug here), to show people strategies on how to do their homework and get into a new area or even profession, so the change is faster, easier and safer than trying to it without preparation and jumping right in, and I've got a whole Keynote speech about it, in case anybody is interested - e.g. to ease the transition to other jobs for their employees.
We have made the course that goes with it (and that we used to offer for sale) available for free here, by the way, so people can test the whole course, not just the introduction video, and take advantage of it when they most need it, with the appeal to donate what they think it is worth to the Win-Win Centre we want to build, which is meant to do good for animals and people alike.
But you don't have to take our course. There are lots of other courses out there, or you can figure it out yourself. The most important bit is that you stay flexible and don’t buy into the doom and gloom that all opportunities are gone. They are not if you keep pursuing them. The most important bit is that you make a decision that you WANT a future, that you believe it is out there, and that you will DO what it takes to get it.
It sounds like a cheap sales speech, but only because snake oil salesmen use this principle, too, doesn’t mean it is wrong, and not everybody who asks you to keep an open mind wants to sell you something without value that you don't need. Just use your mind, and not your fear, to decide what is a good option going forward. Nobody is asking you to jump down a ravine and hope to grow wings on the way down, you are still supposed to use your brain. But fear is a bad counsellor most of the time – and what’s really dangerous is that it gives you tunnel vision and keeps you from seeing the possibilities that are really there. Even if you buy the wrong course here or there (and I’ve done that), or waste a bit of time and money, it will still be worth it, if you get there in the end.
But you won’t get there if you don’t start because you are afraid of making a mistake or looking bad.
What is more important - your future, your family’s future, the future of those you are destined to help, your happiness and fulfilment and leaving a legacy your family can be proud of - or the opinion of your neighbours who sit at home and never do anything?
So it all starts with a decision and a bit of courage to actually look at what's possible. And if you need a bit of help with that, take a look at our course. Again, it's free, there is no obligation to pay anything, unless you want to and think it was worth it, and we won't send you 10 sales emails a day or sell your Email address on either.
It's just a sincere offer to help.
And if you want to help us with the centre in return, we'll be grateful. But there is no obligation to do so.
