Why Me? Why Not Me! A Positive Spin on Job Search

When you’re deep into a job search, rejections and silence can chip away at even the strongest resolve. Sometimes you have to take a step back, reset, and focus on why you are an exceptional find—why you’re the kind of candidate any company would be lucky to have. So here’s my “Why Me” list, a reminder of what I bring to the table.
Why Me: I’m Focused on Others
For over 15 years, I’ve been deeply involved with Braden's Hope for Childhood Cancer. I’m passionate about their mission and work to support their vision of finding a cure for childhood cancer. This isn’t just about volunteering; it’s about making a long-term commitment to something that’s bigger than myself. It’s taught me resilience and empathy—qualities I carry into my work and relationships.
Why Me: I’m a Champion for Animals
One of my other passions is Pawsitive Tails, an organization that rescues dogs that might otherwise be forgotten. Through them, I’ve adopted two incredible dogs and have participated in fundraising to support their mission. I care deeply about giving back and helping those in need—whether they have two legs or four! This connection to service shows up in my work too; I’m always thinking about how I can make things better for those I’m serving, whether they’re clients or colleagues.
Why Me: I’m Dedicated and Resilient
Whether it’s in my career or a 200-mile gravel cycling race like Unbound, I go all in. I set ambitious goals, and I won’t stop until I reach them. I don’t shy away from tough situations, and I believe that positivity can be a powerful tool, even in the darkest places. This approach doesn’t just apply to cycling; it’s how I tackle my work and help clients meet their goals. I believe in showing up, pushing through, and celebrating the wins along the way.

Why Me: I’m Loyal
I believe in the power of loyalty. I’m dedicated to the companies I work for and to the people I work alongside. Sometimes, loyalty can make it hard to walk away from something or someone, even when it’s time. But it also means that when I commit, I’m truly committed. I want to see others succeed, and I’m driven to make a lasting, positive impact wherever I go.
Why Me: I Love to Mentor and Learn
With over 25 years in sales and sales management, I’ve gained so much experience that I love to share with others. Mentoring younger generations is a passion of mine, and I get more out of it than they realize. They help me see things from fresh perspectives, and they remind me that learning never stops. I believe that teaching others is one of the most rewarding parts of my career, and it’s something I hope to bring to my next role.
Why Not Me?
After listing out these “Why Me” reasons, the question transforms: Why not me? I’ve invested in others, I have a long-standing track record, and I’m driven by purpose and loyalty. I bring experience and a heart that’s committed to making a difference. For the right opportunity, I’m ready to bring all this and more to the table.
So here’s my reminder to myself, and maybe to you, too: embrace the “Why Me?” moments—they’re your chance to see what you bring to the world.
And if you are asking if that is me in the photo....It is!
