Why it matters to talk about wellbeing in a different way?

It is not a secret that despite many online events on wellbeing, awareness discussions, guidebooks... the biggest proportion of people are still in the red zone of their mental health.

We are living times of rupture with the past, times of reconsideration of our human purpose. If you think about it, there is a high chance that this period of time is reflected in history books as an important moment: pandemic, business uncertainty, half of people reconsidering their jobs, presenteeism on the rise. It is really normal that most of us have challenges to move out of the red zone.

To feel supported - people need to have alternatives to understand how to manage their wellbeing: making the content more relatable, inspirational and straight to the point. That's how Elena Agaragimova and I decided to produce an event that would be mainly visual, with personal stories and of course short! (we have far too many Zooms nowadays).

In the last live event of Reimagine Wellbeing, we invited 9 impressive thought leaders sharing their personal stories and we wanted to share a recap of the topics of the event:

1. Happiness and Purpose

by DR. LOUISE LAMBERT, she is a psychologist and one of the most recognized researchers in positive psychology. She is also the editor of the Middle East Journal of Positive Psychology

2. The Myth of Work Life Balance

by BEN EUBANKS - a human capital management analyst helping companies with advisory strategic services and research. He is the author of the book 'Artificial Intelligence for HR: Use AI to Support and Develop a Successful Workforce'.

Every individual wants to make the most out of their life and we often get stretched between balancing our work and our life properly. Ben tells us how important it is to prioritize time for people or things we love.

Very successful people say No to almost everything and one person’s idea of success doesn’t have to match with another’s

3. Finding our balance despite extreme situations

By ALEXANDRA KODJABACHI - the founder & CEO of PersEd - where she and her team create transformative learning experiences. Alexandra takes us through a series of drastic events including protests, financial collapses, pandemic and more. In such times, the 3 most important things to hold on are: alignment, getting closer to people that inspire us and our momentum.

When everything around you is negative you need to create space for the positive

My last words...

Overall, the session had a good number of people attending (close to 500), we noticed that sometimes talking about a topic that is sentitive, in a different way can give more people an extra choice to act on their wellbeing.

Let's continue! We all need some inspiration and dont forget to nominate HR people who are making the world more human .
