Marketing is your core responsibility as a business owner.
If you are not marketing your products/services then you are invisible to your marketplace.
You are officially ‘best kept secret’.
These are the top mistakes business owners make:
1. They get obsessed with their product/service and keep building it without understanding if there is a real need for it.
2. They get heavily involved in the day-to-day operations of their business which does nothing to grow their business.
3. They do not have a plan to invest in their personal development.
Here are simple solutions to avoid these mistakes:
1. Stay connected with the market every single day. Your market is the best guide for you. They will validate your offering, not you. In other words, marketing needs to be done daily.
2. Getting out of the day-to-day operations is your responsibility. If you don’t, then you will never have the time to grow your business, you will forever be stuck in solving day-to-day problems.
3. Be honest with yourself and understand that you don’t know everything. That there are certain gaps in your knowledge base. And the only way to address them is investing in your personal and professional development.
Now, why should you listen to me?
Because I have been there and done that.
Before I started my coaching and consulting business I spent 10+ years in my family business of garment manufacturing and export.
I spent the first 5 years doing the following:
1. Being a guard dog and not trusting a single employee we had
2. Chasing and following-up every little thing possible
3. Feeling completely dissatisfied at the end other day because the problems never ended and work never got done.
I could go on and on, but I am sure you get the idea.
What I am doing instead is:
1. Helping business owners build a business and life that they desire and deserve
2. I have built a team that can work independently instead of day-to-day micro managing
3. And I have way more satisfaction with the work I am doing than being directionless in life The point is there is always a better way of doing things.
And it is never too complicated.
That’s the only way I was able to create what I want to create and what feels right for me.
And of course, that is the same reason I am able to help my clients achieve the same.
So do whatever it takes to be in the right place with the right people so that you can create what feels right for you and the people around you.
