Why many resumes fail to grab attention of recruiters in first 7 seconds?

An Eye-tracking study revealed that a recruiter spends only 7.4 seconds on the first half of first page of any resume.

What grabs their attention is:

  1. Simple layout
  2. Clear sections
  3. Heading titles
  4. Accomplishments in bullet points

Most of the time, candidates want to showcase every skill that they have.

That results in a long list of genetic skills and KRAs in the CV making it much longer than 2 pages.

But no validation of those skills and how successfully those responsible were fulfilled.

And then they wonder “I have been applying everywhere but not getting any response!”

Here Is what makes your Resume fail to grab attention:

  1. Cluttered or stuffed layout
  2. Lack of white space on the page
  3. Multiple columns
  4. No sections or headers
  5. Lot of adjectives
  6. Self proclaimed Generic skills with adjectives without any validation or proof

If first half of the first page of your CV fails to grab attention of the recruiter, they may not go through any of the details in your CV.

Can you afford to make these mistakes?
