Why It Makes Sense for Restaurants and Hospitality Establishments to Use Wired and Wireless in One Device and One Platform

More restaurants and hospitality establishments are turning to converged wired and wireless connectivity through one platform. This will lead to increased uptime and cost savings.

Their networking needs start with uninterrupted connectivity. This is especially crucial for Point-of-Sale (POS). Restaurants and drinking establishments need a solution with multi-WAN (Wide Area Network) capabilities. Wired ISP reliability varies according to provider and location. Food and hospitality establishments need solutions that can be utilized for either network failover or primary WAN connectivity. It may be ideal to have both operate simultaneously. Any solution also needs reliant cloud-based security features as well.

Here are the benefits of using one platform with a wired and wireless connection:

  • Uninterrupted credit card transactions
  • PCI Compliance
  • Best-in-breed security
  • WAN Diversity
  • High-end scalability
  • Cost savings

An example of a multiple connection in one platform would be a cable internet connection along with a 4G LTE cellular data connection delivered from the same router. This is done without changing the architecture of its LAN (Local Area Network) setup. This solution allows you to use the same device and platform for both primary and failover connectivity.

Implementing an all in one solution will provide an establishment many cost-efficiencies. These include but are not limited to; better-utilized IT man-hours, less POS downtime, and reducing the possibility of breaches in data transmission.

More and more restaurants and hospitality establishments are focused on this approach. There will be even more growth in these types of deployments.
