Why MacOS Monterey is a Bigger Deal Than You Think
It’s pretty common knowledge that the Apple ecosystem is one of the primary USPs of the brand. Everything is everywhere, and its simplicity allows you to move past mundane tasks, like transferring files and photos between devices; thus letting you truly focus on the task at hand.
Until MacOS Big Sur, and iOS and iPadOS 14, Apple devices were only connected by a thin string made of files, photos, music, etc. which was more iCloud territory than the devices themselves. The OS was still lacking in true interconnectivity. For example, if you Pin a contact to the top on iMessage on your iPhone, you still had to redo it manually on your MacBook and iPad. You still had to turn on DnD on all your devices one at a time, and worse still, you had to turn them off one at a time.
MacOS Monterey has completely eliminated this friction between Apple devices. You can now turn on Focus (AKA DnD on steroids) on any of your devices, and it automatically turns on, on all the others. If you change the wallpaper on Safari, it’s changed on all your Safaris.

These updates may not seem like much at first glance, but it is incredible how seamlessly they flow into your daily work routine. I've had the public betas for two days now, and I don't have to think about which device I'm going to pick up to do something. Everything is everywhere. Combine that with Universal Control, and you have a MacBook, an iPad, and an iPhone that are, in essence, one device.
This is something that Apple has been working on since the beginning. It’s what drew people to the brand, and it’s what keeps us there. And MacOS Monterey has finally come full circle by giving the users full control and flexibility over their devices.
It truly is a time of innovation, and I can’t express with words how excited I am to see what Apple has up their sleeve for the future.
