Why Mable Is a Business with Real Heart
Before starting with Mable, I’d never heard the term ‘profit for purpose’, but it perfectly articulates our business. It’s a living and breathing mantra for all our employees, which means we attract high-calibre talent drawn to our impactful work.?
At Mable, we want to bring out the best in people. I can say first-hand that this starts with how our executive leadership treats and supports staff, and as cliche, as it sounds, it really is one big happy family.
The biggest kick I get out of working here is that it feels like a not-for-profit but has a corporate head on its shoulders. As someone who has worked extensively in the not-for-profit space, coming to Mable feels like the perfect melding between charity and corporate. We operate with an altruistic heart and a business mind.?
The impact of our work?
Mable enables older Australians or people with disability to have the life of their choosing and provides care and support workers with an opportunity to run their own business effectively.??
As Senior Communications Manager, I am responsible for achieving media coverage that helps build our case for self-management and how it can provide support workers and clients with choice and control over the support they give and receive.?
I’m also responsible for our corporate narrative, which includes placing Mable staff as keynote speakers at conferences, profiling our Executive team in the trade press or our owned channels, and helping to execute a strategy that shapes Mable as an innovator in-home care service delivery in the aged care and NDIS sectors.

Looking after our people
There are so many wonderful benefits to working at Mable. Firstly, the flexibility to work from home makes life as a mum of two much easier for me. It’s a big deal for my family that I’m there at the end of the day to help with homework and greet my hungry kids with dinner! While I do love being in the office, right now, my family life needs to balance with my work commitments.
Other benefits include birthday leave, anniversary awards, parental leave (a policy that doesn't discriminate with outdated gendered roles) and access to counselling services. There are also some really interesting and creative ways of supporting staff, such as being able to work anywhere in the world for up to four weeks a year, swapping a state-recognised public holiday for a more personally relevant cultural or religious day and taking a day of paid leave to volunteer for a cause that’s important to you.?
The sky’s the limit
As an innovative tech company, our goal is to revolutionise in-home care, which is no mean feat, but the proof is in the large market share we’ve already gained.?
It’s safe to say the future is bright for us. We’re a purpose-led company with the data to support every move we make. I think it’s clear that we walk the walk by genuinely putting our support workers and clients at the centre of everything we do and empowering them to have control over the support they give and receive, supported by our amazing team behind the scenes, who are driven by being part of a rewarding social impact movement.?
