Why Love Is Necessary?

We hear people say: “Love is blind”, “the one who falls in love suffers from cognitive distortions”, “Love is an irrational phenomenon” or “If you're in love with her, so your head doesn’t work properly”.

I hear these sentences frequently from some of my classmates, some TV programs, or my Dad. Nevertheless, in my opinion "Love is Necessary".

Indeed studies show that love is blind! At least four arias of the brain go off by love:

1. Amygdala; Area that controls fear.
2. Mid Temporal Cortex; Area that controls negative emotions.
3. Frontal Lobe; Area that controls Judgment.
4. Posterior Cingulate; Area that controls empathy.

But why do I repeat: Love is Necessary? Imagine you want to buy a Cellphone or a Tablet, what do you do? Probably, you get advice about the devices that you want to buy or you search the Internet. It may take a few days to select. What if you want to buy a car? Again, the Internet or consult with the number of people -people who have a lot of information about cars- can help. Thus it may take several weeks to reach your final choice (The situation would be different if you are rich).

How much mate choosing is more important than buying a Tablet or a car? 100 times? A 1000 times? Or more?

Considering the importance of marriage, if mate choosing was similar to car selecting, we'd probably spent several centuries to make our mind, and here is where the "love" comes into the scene. Love acts as a catalyst and makes the selection easy. Although it might be disastrous sometimes, if love did not exist, human species have been extinct by now.

Hence, Love is necessary, not only because it gives richness to literature, not only because of the inspiration for romantic movies but because mankind’s survival depends on it.
