WHY LOUIS VUITTON CHOSE A CELEBRITY AS ITS NEXT CREATIVE DIRECTOR
SEEN Connects

The man that doesn’t age, #PharrellWilliams just added another entry to his LinkedIn: Creative Director of #LouisVuitton menswear.
?
Though known first and foremost as a musician, he’s also the founder of Billionaire Boys Club, ICECREAM and Humanrace, dabbled as a collaborator with adidas and acted as an ambassador for Tiffany & Co. and Chanel. His colourful, consonantly evolving style has made him a front-row faithful and a friend to Anna Wintour. This in and of itself should be plenty enough to explain how he managed to secure the seat left empty since Virgil Abloh’s passing.
However, his entrepreneurial fashion activities and bold personal style are not the only reason he bagged this title. ?
With a following on #Instagram of 14.3M and 1M on #TikTok, the man that made ‘Happy’ earworm its way around the world is joining a slew of other celebs that have bagged the CD title at household name brands. He joins the ranks of Molly-Mae Hague at Pretty Little Thing, Kendall Jenner at FRWD, Cardi B at Playboy, Drew Barrymore at Garnier and so many more.

There are three main reasons why a brand would hand over the Creative Director position to an influencer or celeb…
1.????They’re ready-made marketing machines. With a substantial social media following, they have an in-built audience that you a brand can tap into without additional marketing spend.
2.????They’re creative. At their core, they’re creative content producers with their ear to the zeitgeist and an innate ability to give their followers content that engages them.
3.????They're credible. They've built up trust over time among their followers by consistently providing quality content or service at the highest level possible. Their authentic voice makes them effective marketing campaigners because people trust what they say about products or services more than marketers do themselves!

We’re really excited about the potential of these partnerships and what they can do for both LV and the consumer. Influencers and celebrities have an incredibly loyal fanbase that trusts their opinions on everything from fashion to beauty products. The collaborations we’ve seen so far are just the beginning, but we think they signal a trend in which brands begin working with influencers more regularly as Creative Directors.
