Why Loan Officers Should Have a Top-Notch Online Presence

It doesn’t take a great deal of time or know-how to create a professional online presence, and it can be one of the most powerful tools in your kit once you sharpen it. This week, I wanted to share some of the reasons why having a top-notch online presence is so important, along with a few things you can do to make sure that the way you’re represented online reflects who you are in the best way possible.

These days, your online presence makes up a large part of your personal brand. You might think of your name and the company (or your personal) logo first when you think of branding, but it’s your overall online presence that matters most. Your name and logo don’t give anyone a glimpse into who you are and how you do business, but what you post and share online will give them that insight into the person behind the business. A professional online presence allows you to share some of your personality, and it lets your audience get a better sense of who you are, both as a person and as a professional.

Your online presence, when done correctly, will help you attract more prospects and help you convert more of those prospects to clients. It will also help you begin to build trust with your prospects before they’ve even met you for the first time. Many LOs just have a simple website that includes a headshot, contact information, and a very brief (and often very dry) bio; but if you have a website that offers more information than what I just mentioned, and you pair that with a consistently updated blog and current social-media pages, you’re going to have a much easier time standing out from your competition.


Your online presence can show everyone who encounters you that you’re an expert in your field, which areas you specialize in, and why you’re the clear choice to work with in your local market. Sharpening up how you’re portrayed online can set you up for better first impressions, stronger relationships, and your best year yet!
