Why Living Your Purpose is a Power Move for Women Leaders - By Shuronda Robinson
Let’s get one thing straight: living your purpose isn’t a nice-to-have; it’s a must-have.??
It’s the difference between depression and clear life direction.?
It’s the difference between poor habits and excellence.?
It’s the difference between lack and abundance.?
Purpose is your ticket to leading unapologetically, loving yourself fiercely from the overflow of compassion, and leaving a legacy that shifts your personal narrative and those of your family and community. For women leaders, purpose isn’t just the North Star; it’s the key to freedom. When you know why you’re here, you stop asking for permission and start creating a life that honors your truth.?
Here’s the real talk: Society hasn’t exactly rolled out the red carpet for us to step into our power. We’ve been told to tone it down, to stay small,? know your place, to not rock the boat. But news flash—the world needs the exact opposite right now.??
?
At True To You, we kick things off with purpose on Day 1 because we know it’s the foundation for everything else. Purpose is the core of your autonomy, the fuel for your journey, and the boldest form of self-love you can gift yourself.?
And as the iconic Maya Angelou put it, “You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.” Purpose is that decision. It’s the choice to rise above, to lead from the heart, and to chart a course that’s aligned with your deepest calling. So, if you’re ready to live on your terms, let’s talk about why purpose is a game-changer for every woman leader.?
My Definition of Purpose?
Purpose isn’t some vague, feel-good concept that sounds nice on a vision board; it’s a fire within you, a powerful force that aligns every action you take with the deeper reason you're here. Purpose, to me, is your guiding truth. It’s that voice inside you that speaks to your soul, reminding you of your unique role in this world. Purpose is knowing who you are and what you stand for—it’s the foundation that gives meaning to your choices, resilience to your setbacks, and power to your presence.??
You are your purpose.??
When we connect with ourselves, we connect with our purpose, we’re not just setting goals; we’re making a promise to ourselves to live fully and authentically, no matter what the world says. Purpose is clarity, confidence, and courage all rolled into one. It’s the source that keeps us going, that reminds us why we’re here when things get tough. And as women leaders, connecting with our purpose isn’t just an advantage—it’s essential.?
Purpose is Your Ultimate Power Move?
Look, we’re no strangers to struggle. Every day, women leaders walk into spaces where they’re questioned, challenged, and sometimes dismissed. But knowing your purpose changes the game. Purpose isn’t just a feel-good mantra—it’s the armor that lets you lead with audacity and authority, no matter who’s in the room. It’s also the protection you share with others who are going through the same challenges.?
Purpose gives you the power to say no to roles, responsibilities, and relationships that don’t serve you. It’s the backbone of autonomy. With purpose, you’re not waiting for anyone’s approval because you’ve already given it to yourself. You’re not worried about fitting into someone else’s mold because you’re busy creating your own. This isn’t about leading by someone else’s rules; it’s about making the rules that work for you.?

Purpose is Radical Self-Love?
Here’s the tea: Purpose and self-love are intertwined. Finding and living your purpose is the ultimate act of self-love, especially in a world that constantly tells women to put themselves last. We’re taught to be caregivers, to be nurturers—and while there’s strength in that, there’s also power in putting ourselves first. When we honor our purpose, we’re saying, I matter. My dreams, my vision, my truth—they matter. And that’s radical.?
This isn’t about being self-centered; it’s about centering yourself in your own life. Purpose is the reminder that you deserve to show up as your full, unfiltered self. When you know your purpose, you’re not afraid to take up space. You’re not shrinking or dimming your light for anyone. And guess what? The world benefits when women lead from a place of self-love. When we’re whole, grounded, and aligned, we inspire others to do the same. Self-love isn’t selfish; it’s a gift that ripples out to everyone around us.?
Claiming Your Purpose, Claiming Your Voice?
Let’s be real: women’s voices have been muted, downplayed, and sometimes outright ignored. But purpose changes that. When you find your purpose, you reclaim your voice with a fierceness that won’t be silenced. You know why you’re here, and that clarity is louder than any doubters could ever be.?
Purpose lets you stand tall, own your story, and speak with authority. It gives you the strength to call out injustice, to break down barriers, and to build new systems that actually reflect your values. Purpose doesn’t just let you lead—it demands it. With purpose, you’re not just playing the game; you’re rewriting the rules.?
That’s what Day 1 of True To You is all about—reconnecting with your purpose so that your voice, vision, and values are front and center. You’ll learn to define success on your own terms, answer the call of your legacy, and build a vision that is unapologetically you.?
Purpose as Legacy: It’s Bigger Than You?
When women lead from a place of purpose, we’re not just shaping our own lives; we’re setting an example for generations to come. Think about it: every time you make a decision rooted in your values, every time you refuse to compromise who you are, you’re paving the way for other women to do the same. Purpose is legacy-building. It’s a commitment to leave this world better than we found it.?
We’ve been sold a version of success that’s all about individual gain, but purpose challenges that. Purpose reminds us that true power is collective. When we lead from our purpose, we’re not just thinking about today—we’re creating a future where other women can rise, unapologetically and powerfully.?
At True To You, Day 1 is where we start answering the call of our legacy. Together, we’ll look at the five domains of life and craft a vision that doesn’t just look good on paper but feels good in our souls. This isn’t about surface-level success; it’s about building something real (with a little help from a Higher Power), something that lasts.?
Ready to Reclaim What’s Yours??
If you’re tired of playing small, if you’re done with trying to fit into boxes that don’t work for you, then it’s time to find your purpose. True leadership isn’t about molding yourself to fit the world’s expectations—it’s about expanding so the world has no choice but to adapt. And that starts with knowing, deep down, why you’re here and what you’re here to do.?
I’m inviting you to join us at True To You, to take that first step toward a leadership that is authentic, powerful, and unapologetically yours. Because here’s the truth: the world needs you, just as you are, standing fully in your purpose. When women lead from their purpose, we don’t just make waves—we change the entire ocean.?
Let’s do this together.?

1 周Totally agree with you, Shuronda. I am so grateful that God revealed my purpose to me, and I finally am walking boldly in it! My purpose is to use all of the gifts God has given me and speak up about the issue of domestic violence. I know that I am a survivor to fulfill that purpose. And by writing about how to thrive after leaving an abusive relationship, as well as developing programs to assist victims, survivors, and even abusers, I am doing what God called me to do. I applaud you Shuronda for helping so many other women find and fulfill their purpose.
