Why is LinkedIn a haven for fraudsters?

We can now reveal that one of the people at the center of our investigation into wide spread identity theft using the social network LinkedIn is Rear Admiral Michael van Balen, Deputy Chief of the Royal Australian Navy. The second person is respected London based Queens Counsel, Jacob Levy and the third is not a person, but an institution - the United Nations Office of Humanitarian Affairs.
